Columbia City's Friends of the Library has raised a quarter of the necessary funds to keep the city's library open.

The organization announced this week it had raised $4,000 for the library.

The fundraising campaign became necessary after the city announced plans in April to no longer subsidize the library, to the tune of $16,000.
