McBride Elementary in St. Helens was placed under lock in Friday morning after a threat was made against an employee of the school.
When initially contacted for comment, McBride Elementary would not confirm that the school was placed under lock in and deferred comment to district administrators.
St. Helens police officers were called to the school, but the nature of the threat has not been released.
The lock in was lifted at 10:35 a.m., according to Amanda Stuber, the assistant to the superintendent. A lock in typically means students may not leave their classrooms.
Superintendent Patricia Adams said schools perform lock ins anytime there's a threat near campuses.
Parents were notified via phone messages, text messages or emails, she said.
