Portland woman injured in single-car crash

A Portland woman was critically injured Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on Southwest Butner Road just west of Cedar Hills Boulevard.

Marisa Ovist, 30, of Portland, was traveling west on Butner Road in a 1999 Mercedes Benz SUV around 11 p.m. when she apparently lost control of her vehicle.

The SUV hit a large tree, then slid sideways, hitting a utility pole with the driver's side door, said Sgt. David Thompson, spokesman for the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Ovist was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She was listed in critical condition early Friday afternoon, said Legacy spokeswoman Kathy Gorman.

Sheriff's deputies investigating the crash say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

Portland General Electric crews are working to replace the damaged pole.
