Woodstock Elementary School, calling itself 'the oldest standing grade school in Portland', celebrated its centennial on Saturday afternoon, May 21, with special events, community tours, and class reunions (one class' reunion table shown at right).

The school was almost no longer standing, when a workman's torch inadvertently caught the school on fire on October 2, 1980.

The second floor was destroyed, and part of the first floor was badly damaged.

It was rehabilitated as a one-story building, and reopened in 1982.
