CARSON, Calif. - The Portland Timbers' road woes continued Saturday night with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Chivas USA.

Chivas improved to 4-4-5 in MLS play before a crowd announced as 14,076 at the Home Depot Center.

Marcos Mondaini scored in the 70th minute, as the Timbers remained winless away from Jeld-Wen Field.

Portland fell to 5-5-2, with four defeats in six away matches.

Mondaini scored from the left side on a charge by Chivas against goalkeeper Troy Perkins. A sharp cross from Paulo Nagamura went directly to Mondaini, who flicked his shot into the net.

Chivas snapped a three-game winless streak. Goalie Dan Kennedy made four saves for his fourth shutout of the season.
