Caroline 'Myrtle' Lackey
Caroline 'Myrtle' Lackey died on Nov. 12, 2008 of lung complications after surgery. She was 93.
She was born on June 27, 1915 to Tom and Minnie Ferrel Jones in Walla Walla, Wash. Her grandparents were Brewster and Caroline Bott Ferrel, original pioneers of Walla Walla.
She married John Howe Lackey, Jr. in 1940. He died just five years later in l945.
She and her daughter, Ann Lackey, lived in Seattle and moved to Oregon when Ann started college at Marylhurst University.
In her professional life, Mrs. Lackey worked at Frederick and Nelson as a sales clerk and a model. She also sold stocks and bonds as an investment broker. Her final working years were as a nurse's aide in an Oregon City nursing home.
Mrs. Lackey is survived by her daughter, Ann Lackey of Lake Oswego.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, her brother Thomas A. Jones and her sister Gladys Schafer.
The funeral mass and reception was held on Nov. 18 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego.
