The Estacada Rural Fire District will be receiving new training facilities in mid-July, thanks to a grant from the group Assistance to Firefighters.
The facilities cost $296,500, and were badly needed to replace the old facility that the department burned down last week, as it was no longer safe to use.
The grant required that the facilities be mobile and available to other fire departments within Clackamas County. Regardless of mobility, other departments are welcome to come and use the facilities here in Estacada.
The new facilities are made of sea containers that can handle burning, will provide the opportunity for confined space training and come with a rappel tower for rope training.
