Sherwood police on Wednesday arrested the mother of a girl who had been strangled earlier this month.

Kristina Buckley, 38, was taken into custody after being released from an area hospital. She was charged with one count of murder and lodged in the Washington County Jail without bail.

Her arrest follows a murder investigation which occurred on June 2 at the family's Sherwood home where they found Cecilia. She was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Washington County Major Crimes Team, which is overseen by the Washington County District Attorney's Office, investigated the case, which is standard procedure for suspicious deaths and homicides, according to Sherwood police.
