TriMet to consider fare increases
Transit board set to vote Thursday
A proposal to raise some TriMet fares will be considered Wednesday morning by the transit agency's board of directors.
The proposal would increase adult tickets 5 cents and adult monthly passes $4. A $1 increase in youth monthly passes is also proposed. All other fixed-route cash fares would remain unchanged.
The TriMet board meeting is at 9 a.m. at the Portland Building, 1120 S.W. Fifth Ave., Room C.
The increases would help offset additional service costs, including rising diesel prices. They would also help restore some previous service cuts and respond to overcrowding on 10 busy bus lines and the MAX Blue Line.
If approved, the fare changes would take effect Sept. 1. Beginning on Sunday, Sept. 4, these bus lines would add additional trips: 4, 9, 12, 14, 35, 44, 52, 75, 78 and 94.
