Smythe accepts Lakeridge football job
Former Lakeridge head football coach Tom Smythe is now the new Lakeridge head football coach.
"He brings instant credibility, stability and excitement to our football program. Kids from 3rd grade through 11th grade are fired up about the opportunity to play for coach Smythe," Lakeridge athletic director Ian Lamont said in a statement.
Smythe led the Pacers from 1971 to 1988 and won the school's only state title in football in 1987. He would then go on to win two state championships at McKay High School in Salem and most recently coached in Vancouver, Wash.
The Lake Oswego School Board is expected to approve Smythe's appointment on Monday, Dec. 15.
