The Gladstone High alumnus hits up a storm
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Gladstone High School graduate Corissa Santos has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region second all-star team.
Santos, a junior shortstop for Washington University in St. Louis, started all 45 games for the Bears, hitting .350, with 15 extra-base hits - including five home runs, 29 RBI and 29 runs scored. She had 56 putouts and 62 assists - with only eight errors, in close to 300 innings at shortstop.
The Washington University in St. Louis Bears finished the season with an overall record of 32-12-1, the sixth 30-win season in school history.
They placed second in conference and went 1-2 in the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship Midwest Regional, defeating Fontbonne University, but losing to top-ranked Linfield and to 16th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The elimination game with Wisconsin-Whitewater went 14 innings.
