Westlake-area sledding accident injures teen boy

Youth transported by air ambulance to area hospital
by: Lake Oswego Fire Department, A Life Flight helicopter carrying a 16-year-old boy injured in a Westlake-area sledding accident in Lake Oswego Tuesday heads for Legacy Emmanuel Hospital from a soccer field.

A sledding accident Tuesday afternoon in the Westlake area resulted in serious injuries to a teenage boy.

The youth, 16, was sledding down a steep driveway near Westlake Park about 3:30 p.m. when his head struck the ground, said officials with the Lake Oswego Fire Department.

A Life Flight helicopter transported the teen to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. There was no word released on his condition, although the injuries were feared to be serious.

Officials said the helicopter landed on a soccer field near Carman Drive near the site of Lake Bible Church and that field was used as the staging area to transport the youth. Fire officials did not release the boy's name.
