La Salle Prep names Ruble

MILWAUKIE - La Salle Prep has named Kevin Ruble to head up its girls basketball program.

Ruble joins the Falcon coaching staff after serving as an assistant in the boys basketball program at Beaverton High School.

Ruble's coaching career began eight years ago, when he retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he was a transportation officer at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas (1989-2002).

Ruble joined the coaching staff at Beaverton in 2008. The Beavers advanced to the second round of the state playoffs in two of Ruble's three seasons with the team.

Ruble inherits a La Salle team that went 28-1 in 2010-11, the lone loss to Cascade in the Class 4A state final. Five players return from that team, including freshman Sterling Swift, who was the third-leading scorer.

Ruble replaces Jared Curtiss, who resigned at the end of the past season to head up La Salle's boys basketball program.
