West Linn police are investigating a series of car prowls in the Robinwood neighborhood.

Police Sgt. Neil Hennelly said at least seven cases of theft were reported over the weekend in the Midhill Drive area.

'We've had laptops taken out of cars, and in one case a car stereo was removed,' Hennelly said. 'It was done very cleanly, which is sometimes an indicator that someone knows what they're doing.'

Often, items were stolen from unlocked vehicles.

'People are leaving their cars unlocked and leaving their valuables in their cars,' Hennelly said. 'We say this all the time: Lock it or lose it. We can't stress that enough.'

In addition, residents shouldn't keep expensive belongings in their cars, he said. 'The inside of your car should look show-room clean.'
