TIGARD - Food and football.
That sounds like a pretty good combination.
Well, both food and football will be featured at the third-annual Chicken and Beans Bowl to be held Saturday at Tigard High School.
The action starts at 5:30 p.m. when the Tigard freshmen-to-be take the field for a demonstration.
At 6 p.m. the Tigard junior varsity football team will hold a scrimmage.
The main event, the Chicken and Beans Bowmen, starts at 6:30 p.m. when teams of juniors and seniors face off.
The winning team in the Chicken and Beans Bowl will get a postgame chicken dinner with all of the fixings. The losing team will have a postgame meal of beans - and only beans.
There is no cost to attend the event, which will serve as a preview of next fall's Tigard football team. The public is invited to stay for the chicken and beans dinner, which will start at about 8 p.m.
