Lakeridge gets easy tuneup before showdown with rivals
In their final tune-up before this Thursday's scheduled Civil War meet against Lake Oswego, the Pacers continued to put together some impressive swims in a pair of victories over Rex Putnam last week.
The girls team dominated the Kingsmen, winning 107-46 and captured every event but the 50 freestyle. However, in that event, Monica Marcus turned in a personal best time while placing second.
Marcus also had a personal best time in the 500 freestyle, finishing in third place behind teammates Emily Lightcap and Lei Carina.
Lightcap dominated the 500 freestyle, winning it by over a minute. She also cruised to a victory in the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:04.82, topping teammates Casey Chase and Carina.
Another personal best time was turned in by Brittany Anderson in the 200 individual medley. Anderson topped her closest competitor by nearly 15 seconds in the event, winning in a time of 2:15.69.
Also for the Pacers, Lydia Burris won the 100 butterfly and Chase captured the 100 freestyle.
Jennifer Regan picked up a victory in the 100 backstroke while Allison Grundy easily won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:16.90.
For the boys, the meet was a bit closer although the Pacers placed first in the vast majority of the events. In the end, Lakeridge earned an 86-73 victory.
Keahi Horowitz got things started for the Pacers by easily winning the 200 freestyle. Also in that event, Jason Cook turned in a season-best time en route to a third place finish.
Jason Lou and Luke Fuller placed first and second respectively in the 100 butterfly and Lou then quickly turned around to capture the 100 freestyle just moments later.
Teammate Joey Bora was close behind in the 100 freestyle and also was on three winning relay teams.
In the 500 freestyle, Cook turned in another season-best time, taking second place in a time of 5:53.52.
Horowitz continued his stellar meet with a victory in the 100 backstroke, topping his closest competitor by over five seconds in a time of 1:04.45.
Luke Fuller then completed the individual events with a victory in the 100 breaststroke.
Lakeridge's next meet against Lake Oswego is scheduled for today (Jan. 18) but could be postponed due to weather.
