A driver from Lake Oswego crashed his vehicle into a fast food restaurant in Tualatin last Friday morning, Tualatin Police reported. He faces drunken driving and other charges.

The crash was reported about 1:45 a.m. when police received word of a car being in the Tualatin Arby's, 17779 S.W. Lower Boones Ferry Road, in Tualatin (map). When officers responded, they reported extensive damage to the restaurant, but saw no car.

Officers were informed by witnesses that the car was across the street at a Taco Bell restaurant. Police pulled the car over as the driver, identified as Davis Katlaps, 47, Lake Oswego, tried to drive out of the parking lot. Katlaps was arrested and eventually charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform the duties of a driver and first-degree criminal mischief.

He was taken to the Clackamas County Jail.

According to police, the damage to the Arby's was extensive, and was in the area of the drive-through.

'The investigation suggests that Katlaps drove the wrong way through the drive-through and crashed into the building,' officers said.

Police estimated the damage to be several thousand dollars to the Arby's.
