Timm Wins Annual Conference Honor, Alumni Football Games Beginning, Forest Grove Will Host 5k Run/Walk
timm wins annual conference honor
Pacific University's Blake Timm was selected by his peers within the Northwest Conference as the recipient of the 2011 Jack Sareault Award as the conference's Sports Information Director of the Year.
Timm is the first multiple winner of the award, which began in 2005-06. The NWC SID of the Year award is named in honor of Jack Sareault, who served as the conference's SID for 19 years. Following his retirement, Sareault spent countless hours building detailed histories of NWC sports. Sareault passed away in 2008.
'I am very humbled to be the first two-time recipient of the Sareault Award,' Timm said. 'It is an honor to work with one of the best groups of sports information directors in the nation and to be so honored by colleagues and friends.'
Over the course of the academic year Timm promoted the first year of Pacific football, which garnered significant regional and national media attention, oversaw the rollout of a new GoBoxers.com web site and successfully managed the addition of an assistant SID to the staff. Timm also coordinated the rollout of a successful video initiative resulting in 60 highlight videos being produced for the web site and YouTube.
'There is something special about being able to work at one's alma mater,' Timm said. 'Pacific athletics is growing and building in so many positive ways, and I am fortunate to be part of it.'
alumni football games beginning
Ever dreamed of playing just one more football game? This is it.
Alumni Football USA is currently assembling teams of past high school football players to play one more full contact game against their old rivals this September - Banks vs. Astoria, Hillsboro vs. Glencoe, Forest Grove vs. McMinnville, Gaston vs. Vernonia, and many more.
Alumni Football organizes full contact games with complete high school rules, and the group will provide players with everything they need to play - field, full equipment, officials, announcers, emergency personnel and video personnel.
Only the first 40 guys on each team will get to play. All games in Oregon will take place in September. Game times and locations are yet to be determined.
To sign up, go to AlumniFootballUSA.com or contact Albert Ettedgui at 888-562-0622.
