Joe Baker has a pretty good year

GLADSTONE - Joe Baker had quite a senior year of baseball for Gladstone High School.

The senior infielder finished the year leading his team in batting average (.440) and runs scored (21). He was also the Gladiators' top defensive player, committing just five errors in 92 chances at second base.

Junior infielder Trace Webster hit .418, with 25 RBI, nine doubles and a home run.

Senior pitcher infielder Hector Campos hit .392 and had a team-leading 29 RBI.

Campos had a 2.77 season ERA, with 28 strikeouts in 47-2/3 innings.

Senior pitcher/infielder Drew Walters had a 1.96 ERA, with 44 strikeouts and only 30 hits allowed in 36-2/3 innings.

Junior pitcher/outfielder Eamon Burrell had a 2.7 ERA, with 26 strikeouts in 46 innings.

Senior outfielder Sean Murphy was a perfect 9-of-9 on stolen base attempts.

Four Gladiators earned Tri-Valley Conference first-team all-league honors - Walters, Murphy, Baker and Webster.

Senior catcher Kenny Simac and Burrell were named to the conference second all-star team.
