Pair of vacancies open up on the Riverdale school board
Riverdale School District seeks to fill two vacancies on its school board during the 2007 Special District Election.
Board members Kristen Kohnstamm (Position 2) and Sarah Bradley (Position 4) are wrapping up respective four-year terms.
'Sarah's done a lot of great work,' Board Chair Steve Klein said. 'She's working on negotiations with teachers and she's looked at our assessment program and how we use data.'
'Kristen's been heading up our grade school marketing and getting the word out that Riverdale has openings and we'd love to have more students,' he added.
Kohnstamm, a mother of two Riverdale Grade School students, is seriously considering running again. Bradley could not be reached for comment.
But so far, no one has officially filed to run for either position.
Persons interested in running for election to the board can file as a candidate through March 5 at the Multnomah County Elections Office in Portland.
Potential candidates must live within district boundaries and are encouraged to meet with Superintendent Thomas Hagerman to review the requirements of the positions and their vision for the board.
Major issues the board plans to tackle in the upcoming school year include funding, curriculum and programs.
The last day to file voters' pamphlet statements is March 19.
Candidate and voters' pamphlet filing packets are available in the district office, located at 1733 S.W. Breyman Ave. in Portland.
