Beaverton police said Wednesday that Officer Christopher Boyle was driving the patrol car that struck a 24-year-old Portland woman Feb. 9 on the Tualatin Valley Highway.
Washington County's Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team is still investigating the accident.
Boyle has been with the police department since July 2005. He has returned to work in the patrol division.
Boyle was on his way to an emergency call at about 11:16 p.m. that Friday without using his siren or overhead lights when his car struck Jean Marie Howell, who was crossing the highway with her brother near Southwest 141st Avenue and Murray Boulevard.
Howell is recovering from her injuries at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland.
Beaverton police officials said Boyle was driving west to help another officer who had stopped a possible drunk driver.
The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
