Next: The Jax (2-6) play at Edmonton (2-4) tonight and at Colorado (8-1) on Saturday. This and that: “We’ve yet to put a complete game together,” Portland coach Derek Keenan says of the Jax, who went 11-5 last year during the regular season. “The confidence level is a big question right now, and that makes it difficult. All the things that happened last year — we caught all the breaks, got timely goals — we aren’t getting this year. It’s a complete 180 from last year’s team.” … Keenan says Tyler Heavenor will play every game from here on out; he’s in marginal shape, but he’s the quarterback of the power play, which suffered with Heavenor scratched last Saturday at Rochester. … Newcomer Kelly Hall had three goals in each game last week. New defenseman Darren Reisig “has definitely helped on the penalty kill. He’s a smart player,” Keenan says. … Standout D-man Brodie Merrill has a strained hamstring but should be OK. He was home in Ontario for the week. — Jason Vondersmith
