The Rangers won their first-ever playoff game in a 1-0 nailbiter over Skyview High School on Sunday.

The Ranagers stepped onto the ice with Jackson Kennet (Clackamas H.S) back in the lineup after missing the last six weeks due to a knee injury. Kennet returned, but the Rangers' Paul Petasny (EHS) is out for the rest of the season due to a hand injury.

The first two periods saw no scoring by either side. Better scoring opportunities came the way of the Rangers in the periods, but the strong goaltending of Skyview's Ryan Jones kept the Rangers from finding the back of the net. Twice in the first period the Rangers found themselves on two-on-one breakaways only to have Jones turn away the shots.

Once again Rangers goalie Brydon Vaylon (Gresham H.S.) was up to the challenge, also turning away numerous Skyview shots.

The third period started with three Rangers in the penalty box. Skyview had a two-man power play. The Rangers' defense was up to the challenge, keeping Skyview from getting any quality shots on goal. Finally, at the eight minute mark of the third period, Estacada's Joe Wendt (Gresham H.S.) found himself in a one-on-one situation with Jones and was able to slip the puck into the back of the net to score the game-winning goal.

For the game, the Rangers outshot Skyview 24-19.

The Rangers move onto the semi-finals on Sunday, March 11 against Tigard High School, which beat Metro 2-1.

In other games Lincoln beat West Linn 4-3 and Prairie, in a shoot-out, beat E. Vancouver 9-8.
