The couple moved to N.E. 35th and Ainsworth, and had their first child, Kathleen, in 1949; but Mary and her family returned to Sellwood in 1953, living at S.E. 21st and Umatilla, and later at S.E. 15th and Lexington. Years later, Mary returned to work at Standard Insurance, retiring in 1989 at the age of 62. In May of 2005, she and Dick moved to a small apartment a few doors down from the family homestead. She died on January 23, 2007, and a requiem mass was celebrated on Monday, January 29th, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Sellwood.
