A busy winter for Mount Hood rescues

In light of the most recent rescue on Mount Hood last month, we take a look at the busy winter season that has brought rescuers to the mountain all too often. Here are the most recent rescues:

• Feb. 18-19: Rescuers plucked eight climbers - including three who fell into the White River Canyon - from the mountain.

• Jan. 31: A Hood River woman was incapacitated after a falling piece of ice stopped her and her party in their tracks.

• Jan. 27: Search teams had to pull a Lake Oswego man off the mountain after he broke his leg during a climb.

• December: Three out-of-state mountain climbers died from exposure on Mount Hood.
