Old Time jam sessions at brew pub on Thursdays starting March 22

Join dulcimer instructor Sally Smith, fiddler Bennett Johnson at Fearless on second and fourth Thursdays

If you love old time music, listen up! Fearless Brewing Company will begin having old time music jam sessions starting March 22 at 6:30 p.m. and ending about 8:30 p.m. The jam sessions will continue at the same time on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to participate.

Sally Smith and Bennett Johnson decided to start the jam sessions because they wanted to meet other musicians in the area. Smith is proficient at a number of old time instruments. She teaches dulcimer at the Estacada Community School.

Bennett Johnson, owner of Fearless Brewing Company, plays the fiddle. Johnson met Smith after signing up for the dulcimer class. The two started playing music together.

'We figured there must be other old time musicians in the area,' said Johnson. 'We thought the jam sessions would be a good way for us to create opportunities to play.'

Old time music has enjoyed recent popularity after it was featured in the movie, 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' The music is fun to play. Everyone, from beginners to advanced musicians, can have a good time. Johnson and Smith want to preserve the jam session exclusively for old time music. They will have music on hand, but the simple tunes are easy to pick up.

So grab your guitar, banjo, dulcimer, washboard or whatever and join the fun at Fearless Brewing company on March 22.
