The new Weston Kia car dealership at the corner of 223rd Avenue and Stark Street, the former site of Zimmerman's 12-Mile Store, is now open.
Weston dealerships have served Gresham for more than three decades, and owner Jan Weston said the company needed more room. The new dealership has a full showroom, and sales and service departments.
The Zimmerman family had run the iconic 12-Mile Store - with its huge, rotating neon sign - since the 1930s. The Westons saved the landmark sign for the Zimmerman family, as well as several old-growth wooden beams, when the store was demolished in August 2006.
The family owned and operated Weston dealerships, which were named Oregon's top small business for 2006 by Oregon Business Magazine, support many local charities, including Mt. Hood Community College, Gresham Fire and Emergency Services and Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
