Tight turn causes backups on busy Beaverton road
by: Ray Pitz, A tanker truck got stuck Monday afternoon as it tried to make a turn on Southwest Canyon Road near Cedar Hills Boulevard. The truck blocked traffic on the road for a couple hours.

Westbound Canyon Road was closed to traffic for a couple of hours Monday as emergency crews removed a tanker truck carrying fuel.

The tanker reportedly struck a traffic control signal pole just after 2 p.m. while attempting to make a tight turn from westbound Canyon north onto Cedar Hills Boulevard.

The truck blew a tire and the pole dented its tank from the impact.

There were no reports of gas leaking from the tank. Crews with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue monitored the tank to make sure a fire didn't spark.

A new driver and a replacement tire were eventually sent from Portland.
