Next: The LumberJax (2-9) play host to San Jose (4-5) at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Rose Garden.

Jax woes: Portland has lost nine in a row, and coach Derek Keenan says the Jax need to finish 5-0 and get help to make the National Lacrosse League playoffs.

'I've never been involved in anything like this at any level,' Keenan says, of losing. 'We'll just keep working on it. At some point, we have to start executing game plans.'

The coach puts the onus on the players. 'It's a performance-based business, and players aren't performing right now,' he says.

Getting better: Keenan says the Jax, obviously, need to score more goals. But Portland gave up seven consecutive goals in the second half of last weekend's 17-8 loss at San Jose. 'It came down to (lack of) tenacity and effort,' the coach says. 'It's about executing and who wants it more.'
