Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation will occasionally close access to the Sandy River navigation channel under Interstate 84 on Friday, June 17, to safely demolish the old eastbound bridge.
During demolition, flaggers will control river traffic; expect delays of up to an hour. Freeway traffic will not be affected.
The closure will allow construction crews to safely remove steel beams from the old eastbound freeway bridge. The aging freeway bridges over the Sandy River are being replaced to meet the demands of modern traffic. The project includes the repair of two nearby bridges over Jordan Road.
The Oregon Transportation Investment Act is funding this project.
