Tualatin man arrested for locker theft

Portland Police officers arrested a 34-year-old Tualatin man Thursday evening in connection with a locker room break-in at 24-Hour Fitness.

East Precinct officers responded to the gym, located at 10052 S.E. Washington St., at the report of theft from a locker.

The victim told police that he locked his bag up in the locker room and someone broke in while he was exercising, stealing his bag, wallet, iPhone and keys.

As officers were talking with the victim, an officer assigned to North Precinct arrested 34-year-old Matthew Charles Sofich of Tualatin for using Gold's stolen credit cards at Lloyd Center Mall.

Sofich was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail for identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Portland Police were able to return all of the stolen property to the victim.
