Norman and Shirley Rieper of East Portland will celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary with an open house.
They were married June 21, 1947, in Kelso, Wash. They have resided in East Portland since the 1940s, after they lost their home in the Vanport flood.
Norman worked for Rose City Pre-Cut Buildings. Shirley worked for Montgomery Ward and then for Hartley Elementary School as a cook.
Norman and Shirley have two daughters: Shirley Robertson of Wood Village and Sharon Douglas of Vancouver, Wash. They have five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Their daughters, Patricia Waters and Roberta Rieper, preceded them in death.
