Gerald 'Jerry' E. Perkins
June 6, 1925-March 24, 2007
Welches resident Gerald 'Jerry' E. Perkins, 81, died of heart failure Saturday, March 24, in Welches.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Hoodland Lutheran Church, 59151 E. Highway 26, Brightwood. Visitation will follow at noon. Private interment will be at Willamette Valley Park.
Jerry was born June 6, 1925, in Spokane, Wash., to Edward James and Margaret (Fisher) Perkins. He was raised and educated in Spokane.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was part of the D-Day invasion.
Jerry later graduated from Gonzaga University with a bachelor's in history.
On July 10, 1953, Jerry married Jan Smith in Los Angeles. He worked as the western regional manager for CPC International Foods. He was retired.
Jerry lived in Gresham for six years before moving to Welches in 1991.
He was a member of Hoodland Lutheran Church, Mount Hood Golf Club, where he served as the executive secretary for 10 years, and was co-founder of the AA Softball League in Spokane.
Survivors include his wife of Welches; daughters, Cindy Taylor of Tigard, Debbie McClain of Tualatin, Jody Perkins of Reno, Nev., and Patty Christensen of Las Vegas; son, Tim Perkins of Welches; and eight grandchildren.
