Echo Shaw principal exits; search continues for Harvey Clarke leader, business manager
OPENINGS -- Pair of principals to be named soon; business manager replacement nears
Susan Rodriguez, principal of Echo Shaw Elementary School in Cornelius for the past six years, will leave the Forest Grove School District at the end of the 2006-07 school year.
She has accepted a position as principal at Barnes Elementary School in the Beaverton School District.
The district is also poised to hire a new principal at Harvey Clarke Elementary School, replacing Becky White, who has announced her retirement in June.
Three finalists - Kathryn Shinall, a kindergarten teacher in Beaverton; Clinton Gertenrich, a principal in the Salem-Keizer district; and Jerrie Matuszak, a reading coach in the Greater Albany School District - were still in the running early this week.
Community members attended an informal meeting with them last week and Superintendent Jack Musser is expected to announce a decision by next week.
A key position also is open in the district's administration office. Director of Business and Support Services Mike Schofield has taken a similar position with the Gresham-Barlow School District and a search has been ongoing for his replacement.
Six candidates were interviewed for the job, which Schofield will vacate June 30.
Musser spent last Friday on site visits with two finalists. They are David Marshall, business manager for the 5,400-student Three Rivers School District in Grants Pass, and Darin Davidson, business manager of the 1,900-student Philomath School District.
Target date for hiring a new business manager is April 6, just as the 2007-08 budget season begins to heat up.
