Lake Oswego resident Matt Levin with the Portland litigation firm Markowitz, Herbold, Glade and Mehlhaf has been recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of the top 40 young leaders in the business community.

Levin is an attorney and shareholder with the firm.

The 'Forty Under 40' is an annual listing of Portland's business elite under the age of 40. Recipients are honored for their high level of professional achievement and leadership in the community.

Levin resolves complex business disputes for clients ranging from individuals and local startups to Fortune 500 corporations. In addition to his focus on business litigation, including contract disputes, employment matters, accounting malpractice and real estate disputes, Levin has developed a sports litigation practice, representing Adidas, Andre Agassi and Shaquille O'Neal in business and endorsement matters. He co-teaches a sports law class at Lewis and Clark Law School.

Levin is a board member for the St. Andrew Legal Clinic, which provides family law services to low-income families, and for the Portland Youth Golf Association, which teaches life skills to underserved kids. He also does pro bono work for non-profits including the IMAGO Theater, the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation and the Rock N' Roll Camp for Girls.

Levin lives in Lake Oswego with his wife, Katie, and their three children.

Recipients of the Forty Under 40 Award were chosen based on three criteria: Leadership in business, business recognition and community involvement.

This year's winners were featured in the March 23 issue of the Portland Business Journal and were honored at a private event last Thursday at Morton's steakhouse in Portland.
