Underground survey work could affect traffic on Southwest Naito Parkway beginning Monday night.
A contractor for the Portland Water Bureau will do the work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. The work will require the closure of one northbound lane between Southwest Caruthers and Clay streets. Crews must determine the locations of utility conduits under the pavement to ensure they do not conflict with a new pipeline's alignment.
Water bureau officials said the contractor would work in an 800-foot rolling zone, so all traffic lanes will be opened except where work is taking place.
The work is part of the second phase of the bureau's Westside Header Project that will install another 5,000 feet of large-diameter steel water mains to replace an aging supply pipeline. Construction work on Naito Parkway begins this month and continues through November.
