Harold Deandre Jones charged with attempted murder
Portland Police Gang Enforcement Team detectives have arrested a man in connection with an early Sunday morning shooting in Southeast Portland.
Harold Deandre Jones, 33, is charged with attempted murder.
According to police, at 3:54 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Lafayette Street. That's where officers found a house in the 3800 block of Lafayette Street with several bullet holes in the front window.
Four adults inside the house at the time of the shooting were not injured. A total of 16 shots had been fired at the house.
Gang Enforcement Team detectives began investigating the incident when East Precinct patrol officers stopped a vehicle at Southeast 60th Avenue and Powell Boulevard that they later learned was the suspect vehicle. Jones, who was inside the vehicle, was detained.
Detectives recovered an SKS semi-automatic assault rifle that they believe was used in the shooting. Detectives learned that the shooting stemmed from a dispute about a car prowl.
Jones has been booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned Monday.
