On Tuesday, February 27th, at 5:58 pm, a Southeast Precinct officer spotted a wanted man driving in the area of S.E. 82nd Avenue of Roses and S.E. Bush Street. After refusing to stop, the suspect, 21-year-old Daniel Guardiola, led officers on a low speed pursuit. The pursuit ended when Guardiola got his car stuck in the mud near the on-ramp to I-205 northbound between S.E. Powell Boulevard and S.E. Division Street.
Guardiola, evidently under the mistaken impression that officers would allow him to leave if he attacked them, then rammed three police cars in an attempt to escape. It didn't work, and added to the charges. Officers eventually used a Taser to take him into custody.
Guardiola was charged with one count of Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, one count of Reckless Driving, and three counts of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, and was booked into the Justice Center Jail after receiving medical attention.
