Streetcar work closes Broadway Bridge at night

Work on Portland's streetcar project will close the Broadway Bridge for two nights beginning Tuesday evening.

Portland Bureau of Transportation officials said the work would require the bridge to close to traffic at 8 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday. The bridge will close again at 8 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday.

Sidewalks will remain open during the bridge closure.

Portland's streetcar loop project is a 3.3-mile double-track extension of the existing streetcar system from the Pearl District in Northwest Portland, across the Broadway Bridge and south to OMSI near the Marquam Bridge.
