Lincoln Park improvements will take less time than many think
A recent stop at Lincoln Park revealed that the construction project has started. The entire area has been closed off. The time frame for this fairly complicated project will pleasantly surprise you.
I talked with Charlie Arvidson, Pacific University's construction superintendent, and he gave me a copy of the construction timeline. The total project, including the three stadiums (soccer, softball and baseball) is planked to be completed by mid-fall because the university has changed its original three-phase plans and now intends to do all the work as soon as possible.
However, access to the entire park, including the paths, must be restricted, due to the extensive amount of grading, excavating and replanting. All of this requires a lot of heavy equipment. The paths will be resurfaced and open to the public as soon as the danger is past.
It sounds to me like they are going to try hard and get the project completed in a timely, safe way. Then, we can enjoy the wonderful new athletic complex and walking paths and family areas. So have patience! It will be worth the short wait.
