Homespun tour spawns first-class CD

LOCAL BAND: The Lewi Longmire Band
by: COURTESY OF LEWI LONGMIRE, Onstage inductors and subject of the first record release generated by the McMenamins’ Great Northwest Music Tour, the Lewi Longmire Band has plenty to celebrate this weekend.

McMenamins has provided folks in the Northwest with free, family-friendly shows by some of the region's best-loved bands through its Great Northwest Music Tour, which features a different artist rotating through several of the company's properties each month.

Now, those who can't make it out to the shows in person can share in the experience through live recordings being generated through the project.

Tonight's show is the CD release for the inaugural disc, an energetic and vivacious-sounding collection culled from the Lewi Longmire Band's participation in the tour last year.

The band sounds relaxed and comfortable, effortlessly spinning off catchy, bluesy rock.

With the music industry in a constant state of confusion lately, it's great to see a backer like McMenamins providing new and innovative ways for artists to expand their audience as well as supporting a wide variety of local talent.

Check www.mcmenamins.com for upcoming Great Northwest Music Tour artists and dates.
