Softball: Portland State opens defense of its Pacific Coast Softball Conference title with doubleheaders at noon today and Sunday against Sacramento State at Erv Lind Stadium. Sac State (8-23) and PSU (15-19) were picked to finish 1-2 this year. Sac State finished one game behind the Vikings in 2006. PSU has dismissed two of its top players, Laura Segall and Katie Stokes, for team rule violations.

No. 10 Oregon plays host to No. 17 Oregon State at 3 today and 1 p.m. Saturday. Both teams are 2-1 in the Pac-10. Other conference clubs in the nation's top 25 are Arizona, fifth; ASU, seventh; UCLA and Washington, tied for 12th; and Stanford, 14th.
