Notes: OSU also plays a softball doubleheader at home at 2 p.m. today against Portland State. … The Beavers split two games at Oregon last week, rallying to win the opener 9-7, then losing 4-3 in eight innings. The winner of their remaining game, April 25 in Corvallis, will give its school the 2006-07 season championship in the annual Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War series.
PSU softball: The defending champ Vikings took the early lead in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference, taking two of three at home from preseason favorite Sac State. PSU won 3-0, lost 5-3 and won 3-1, with the fourth game rescheduled for May 11 or May 12 in Portland, if necessary. Mandy Hill won twice, allowing 12 total hits.
