Chianello wins easily on Glendoveer's east course
BOYS GOLF - Centennial finishes second in the team tally
Centennial's Nick Chianello birdied four of his last five holes on the eastside course at Glendoveer on Thursday afternoon to win medalist honors at the Mount Hood Conference boys golf tournament with a 5-under-par 68.
The Eagles' sophomore highlighted the spurt by sinking an 8-foot birdie putt on the 541-yard, 15th hole - rated the toughest on the back-nine. Chianello set up his birdie chance by placing his approach shot through a narrow opening between bunkers before the ball rolled to a stop just behind the pin.
He finished the day with eight birdies and needed just two shots to hole out the 166-yard, No. 9 hole.
Centennial finished second in the team tally with a 335 total - 23 strokes behind first-place Central Catholic.
The Rams had three of the top five individual scorers to win their third straight league tournament. Jake Wagner led the way with a 2-over 75.
