• Paul Gaustad, whose Buffalo Sabres tied Detroit for the most NHL points, 113, has been out since Feb. 16 with a severed tendon in his left ankle. … Josh Green (Vancouver) has a knee injury and hasn't played since March 1. … Hossa was sixth in NHL points (43 goals, 57 assists). … His brother, the Rangers' Marcel Hossa, has been out with a knee injury. … Morrow returned from a severed wrist tendon, forcing him out for 33 games. Jason Wiemer (New Jersey)is also out with a knee injury.

• Among the ex-Hawks not in the playoffs: Andrew Ference, who was traded from Calgary to Boston in February; Glen Wesley, whose 2006 NHL champ Carolina Hurricanes failed to make the postseason; and Braydon Coburn, who got traded from Atlanta to Philadelphia, which had the NHL's worst record at 22-48-12.
