Together on stage, artists make magic

LOCAL ARTISTS: A Collaborative Evening With …
by: ©2007 JEREMIAH HAYDEN, Such moments of repose are rare when this posse of expressive individuals convenes locally for a night of music and creativity.

The art world (particularly the music segment) is more famous for ego than collaboration, so tonight's multidisciplinary, mutually supportive celebration is nothing short of a minor miracle - or at least something you should get down and witness firsthand.

Local musical artists Drew Grow (ex-Careen), Crosstide, Bryan Free and the Beauty have put together a night of music that also features Boise, Idaho, singer-songwriter Kris Doty, and Albuquerque, N.M., alt-rock combo Soular (celebrating a record release tonight).

The chance to see top-notch indie-folk and dark, swooping alterna-rock is one thing, but the various musicians will join one another on stage at various points, creating some unique moments.

In addition, local painter Brent Wear and Boise counterpart Marcus Pierce will be collaborating on visual art throughout the night. Come early, stay late, and see what happens when people join together to create a scene.
