Hopes for an eventual north-south transportation route in East County received a needed boost from the Wood Village City Council last week.
The Wood Village vote, although it came with important qualifying statements, means that all four city councils in East County now are on record supporting a study to determine the best route to connect Interstate 84 and U.S. Highway 26.
It remains uncertain whether funds will come through for that study. And certainly, a north-south parkway is years away. But the vote in Wood Village was a remarkable testament to the four cities' ability to reach consensus around contentious issues.
