Viking tennis evens conference record
The Forest Grove boys tennis team evened up its Pacific Conference record with a win over Tigard on Monday in a match that was postponed earlier this season due to rain.
The Vikings (2-2) and Tigers (3-1) played to a 4-4 tie, but Forest Grove won the match with an 80-72 advantage in total points won, the second tiebreaking criteria used by the conference.
Forest Grove won three of four singles matches, but could not hold on to that advantage in doubles play.
Cameron Rutledge was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Kevin Xiong at No. 2 singles, and teammates Jordan Miller and Tyler Brabham followed with easy singles wins. Miller toppled Tyler Minnetto 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Brabham was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 4.
Forest Grove's only doubles win came from Serge Schar and Donnie Schneider, who posted a dramatic 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Louis and Jeff Rogers at No. 2.
Forest Grove visited Canby on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time. The Vikings have another road game, this time in McMinnville, on Thursday.
