TIGARD - A man is accused of tying up a Tigard woman in her home Tuesday, attempting to sexually assault her and then robbing her.
The woman called 9-1-1 at 3:35 p.m. to report a man with a gun had entered her apartment located at 13300 S.W. 72nd Ave.
'The 19-year-old victim told police she had been walking her dog and then returned home,' said Jim Wolf, Tigard police public information officer. 'A short time later she was surprised by a strange man inside her apartment.
'The woman told investigators she was threatened and had her hands bound by the man. The suspect then left after taking money and other items.'
On further investigation, police learned that an attempted sexual assault on the victim also took place, according to Wolf.
The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall with an average build. The suspect had his face concealed and was wearing light or khaki colored pants and a dark jacket, Wolf said.
Tigard police arrived on the scene within minutes and began to contain the area.
Soon after, a Beaverton K-9 unit arrived and proceeded to track the area but found nothing.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact Tigard police detectives at 503-639-6168 or the tip line at 503-718-COPS.
