Council picks bid for streetscape project

Sandy city staff recommends that the City Council award the bid to Moore Excavation for its coming downtown utility undergrounding and streetscape project.

City officials opened two bids Tuesday, April 10 - one for $6.4 million and Moore's for $3.06 million. The city engineer estimated a cost of $3.19 million. City Manager Scott Lazenby said Moore has done 'good work' for the city in the past. The council will vote on the matter at its Monday, May 7, meeting. In the meantime, the local utilities involved in the undergrounding (Verizon and Charter) will work out paying their percentage of the project (about half).
